Looking for Volunteer Opportunities?

The New Student Programs office is looking for students who want to help incoming Illinois freshmen and beef up their resume with volunteer hours!  Welcome Days Leader is a great position for anyone looking to develop great networking opportunities and leadership skills. We’re looking for anyone interested in helping new Illinois students adjust to campus!
The only requirements for this position are:

2.5 cumulative GPA
                  One University professional recommendation
                  Attend one of three trainings (April 11, 20, 25)
                  Be a student at Illinois both Spring and Fall 2013

  • Living the Healthy Weigh: Monday, February 25, 2013, 6:00-7:00 p.m., Activities and Recreation Center (ARC), Multipurpose Room, 3 (on the main floor of the ARC)

Program Description: What components should you strive for in a healthy lifestyle?  Learn how to become active and exercise with a busy schedule as well as making all foods fit into your life.

  • Health and Wellness Workshop: Tuesday, February 26 from noon-12:45 p.m. - Illini Media Building, 4th Floor Conference Room (by reservation only)

Program Description: This program is part of the Transfer “Souper” Tuesday Workshop series and is open to transfer students only. Students interested in attending this workshop get a free cup of soup from Panera. To sign up, please e-mail newstudent@illinois.edu  McKinley Health Center will discuss with students how to balance a healthy lifestyle with the demands of being a student. Come join fellow transfer students for this interactive presentation!

  • Apartment Hunting Workshop: Wednesday, February 27, 2013, 7:00-8:00 p.m., Illini Union Room C

Program Description: How do I start looking for housing??? Is it cheaper to live in the residence halls??? This presentation gives you the tools you need to start your housing search! We will discuss costs, how to locate housing, important laws you should know, and community resources. We will take questions at the end of the presentation.
