Transferring a Course

U.Select (aka transfer.org)

u.select (formerly CAS) is an online tool that will help you view program requirements, course equivalencies, and see how courses you have taken or plan to take transfer to another college or university.

Here is the information regarding the u.select system. The link to u.select, is: transfer.org

Here are the steps to use the system:

1. On the middle of the screen you’ll see a header that says “Look for a course or transfer information.” Under that header,  select "Equivalencies by School".
2. Select University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign from the pull down menu. This will automatically take you to the next window.
3. Select the Category tab, select the state from the pull down menu and then press the Go button.
4. A list of possible schools will appear. Check the box of the school you wish to add. Then click the "Add Schools" button.
5. Click the "Create Guide" button once that appears on the right side of the screen.
6. You can either search from the school you wish to attend or from Illinois  to find the class rubric and call number (i.e. HIST 171, MATH 220, SPAN 103, etc).
7. The important thing to remember when looking for a course that will transfer to Illinois, is that course should not have an ending date listed in the left column (For example- Starting 1979 Fall - Ending 1998 Summer).  If this is the case, that this means the that this particular course is not able to be transferred to Illinois.
